Whet — Privacy Policy

Whet Learning ("Whet," "we," "our," or "us") operates the Whet mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address provided by Apple or Google sign-in
• Name and profile photo (if provided by Apple or Google sign-in)
• Authentication provider (Apple or Google)

Learning Data

As you use Whet, we collect:

• Topics you explore and lessons you complete
• Quiz answers and scores
• Knowledge graph data (topics learned, mastery levels, connections)
• Curiosity Score and streak data
• Memory Pulse review history
• Lesson feedback (thumbs up/down)

Device Information

• Device type and operating system version
• App version

Usage Data

• Lesson completion times
• Feature usage patterns
• Error logs (anonymized, development builds only)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Generate personalized AI lessons
• Track your learning progress and build your Knowledge Graph
• Calculate your Curiosity Score
• Schedule Memory Pulse reviews using spaced repetition
• Improve the app experience

AI-Generated Content

Whet uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate lesson content. Your topic requests are sent to Anthropic for lesson generation. We do not send your personal information (name, email, scores) to Anthropic — only the topic name and difficulty level.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using:

• Supabase (PostgreSQL database with row-level security) for all user data
• AsyncStorage (local storage) for authentication tokens on your device
• Railway for API server hosting

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3).

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Anthropic — topic names for lesson generation (no personal data)
• Supabase — database hosting provider
• Railway — API server hosting provider

Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data through the app (Knowledge Graph, score history, lesson history)
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time (Profile → Delete Account)

Data Retention

• Active accounts: data retained while your account is active
• Deleted accounts: all data permanently deleted immediately upon account deletion
• We do not retain backups of deleted account data

Children's Privacy

Whet is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Whet includes user-generated content and uses a multi-layer moderation system, including automated filtering, to help detect and limit inappropriate content.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.

Terms of Service

By using Whet, you agree to:

• Use the app for personal, educational purposes
• Not attempt to circumvent content moderation or rate limits
• Not use the app to generate harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content
• Accept that AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies

Whet Learning reserves the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.
